This is a series of write-ups concerning MYTHS ABOUT THE BIBLE.
An untenable counter argument against the Bible is that it is a mere book conceived and written by men. Some even go further to say that since we say Isaiah, David, Paul and James wrote parts of the Bible like the other people, they were special people who sat down and wrote the Bible and attributed it to God. Very smart guys indeed if they could have done that. But it is far from the truth as the Scriptures itself attest to.

If you are a Christian, you must know that assault on the Bible is a grand attempt by the enemy of our soul, the devil and his cohorts, to destroy our confidence in the One true God revealed in the Bible.
What must be the Christian’s response to people who genuinely or masqueraders of the devil who seek to say the Bible is from and by human beings? Well, I have no defense other than what the Bible says of itself. The testimony of the Bible is so clear that the blind can see and the deaf can hear.
Here we go…
“The Bible is not dead but a living book.”
HUMAN
Yes, we agree wholeheartedly that the books of the Bible were written by over 40 human authors but it does not end there. Indeed, the books are attributed to Moses, David, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Paul, John, Peter and many more. These were people who were moved by the Holy Spirit of God to write the Scriptures.
Now, please understand that this inspiration is not the same as what Shakespeare received from his own reflections to write his classical works. We are speaking of God moving men to write what He wants them to write and not what they want to write. Hence, you see that though Isaiah writes, the message is so foreign to himself.
GOD
The second mighty angle in this episode of the Bible authorship is about God Himself. I mean think about this: if the Bible is a human construct, how on earth would all these over 40 authors who knew next to nothing about each other or had no clue of what the other person was writing about come to a major conclusion about one unifying message? Something does not add up if we hold to their argument.
We see a mighty hand of God scattered in all of Scriptures. Indeed, 2 Timothy 3:15 says that all Scripture is inspired by God Himself. Not men but God. Our living God authored this living book. The Bible is not dead but a living book. The Bible is external to the human authors and to us. There is no way Isaiah could have predicted every detail of the suffering servant (Isaiah 53) way before it manifested.
CHRIST
Before I end, let me throw in the last palpable issue about this matter. Dear Friend, how could any human being write different books but end up with the same message about one person – Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour?
When you consider the fact that the books of the Old Testament predicted Christ in clear terms and the New Testament revealed Him, we can say that there is One Author moving history in His pleasure. In Luke, Christ Himself taught about Himself from the Scriptures (OT) beginning at Moses and the Prophets. Profound and sobering.
Dear Christian, all I have done in this short write-up is to raise reasonable arguments in favour of this enduring revealed legacy of God called the Bible. My argument is that GOD IS THE AUTHOR OF THE BIBLE WHICH REVEALS HIS NATURE AND HIS SON WHOM HE HAS APPOINTED HEIR OF ALL THINGS.
If you don’t know this God of the Bible, you are on a fatal trip to hell where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth. The God of the Bible has given us His Son whom He did not spare but crushed to atone for our sins.
May God remove the scales off your eyes to see the glorious work of redemption in the Bible.
Grace and peace to you!
