In the movie Last Seen Alive (2022), a husband (played by Gerald Butler) is about to go through divorce with the wife due to marital constraints. As he drove her to the in-laws house for a time of separation, they pulled over at a gas station to get fuel. The wife went into the shop to buy water when she was kidnapped by the town’s criminals. He searched for her to no avail and finally reported to the police to help him find the missing wife.
As he earnestly waited for the police to intervene as soon as possible, he felt they were delaying and so he took matters into his own hands and started vigorously looking for his wife. His investigations led him to a dangerous place where the wife was being held. He fought his way through to free the wife and reunited.
The Bible says that Christ (our groom) did not wait for the bride (the church) to be united with Him. Philippians 2:5-8 says He came from His glory in the form of a bondservant to redeem us unto Himself (2 Corinthians 5:19).
Nothing can separate the church (bride) from the Christ (groom). No faithful husband will sleep and snore if the wife is in danger. Just as the husband in the movie moved into action to get his wife, so does Christ save, protect and preserve us unto eternity.

Let’s explore these three activities:
#1. Christ Saves Us
Paul said in 2 Corinthians that Christ, for our sake, made Himself poor so that we can become rich in Him (2 Corinthians 8:9). Ephesians 2:4-6 says we, who were dead in trespass, have been made alive together with Christ because of His great love for us. Christ saves us from the wrath of God (Romans 5:9).
#2. Christ Protects Us
Romans 8:35-39 assures us that nothing can separate us from the love of the Father which is in Christ Jesus. Not death, tribulation, sickness, etc. can take us from Him. We are protected by Him.
#3. Christ Preserves Us
Lastly, we are preserved in our bridegroom. Jude 24 says that unto Him who is able to keep us us from falling. Nothing can take us from the firm grip of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ. We are preserved in Him forever.
If the human husband in this inspirational movie stopped at nothing to get her wife back, Christ will certainly not sleep nor slumber in His quest to present us unto Himself faultless (Ephesians 5:27). Let’s be rest assured that our saviour is able to protect and preserve us from destructive work of satan (John 10:10).
