Fruitful Heart [Bible Teaching]

If we will have a fruitful heart, we must commit to God and cleanse our heart with the word.

When you hear the heart of the matter, it means the core of the matter at hand. The heart is the centre of our person. It is where everything bad or good stems from. Proverbs says out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks (Matthew 12:34; Proverbs 4:23; Proverbs 10:11; Psalm 14:1). You can speak one thing but do another thing because your heart will direct the course of your life.

If we want to be fruitful, we must pursue heart fruit. We must be fruitful in our heart. We must seek to habour issues that will edify our lives and improve our walk with the Lord. The heart is where the issue is.

How can we be fruitful in our heart?

#1. Commit Your Heart To God

Genesis 6 tells us that in the time of Noah, the heart of man was continually wicked and sinful towards God and man. A sinful heart is a wicked heart. A sinful heart has no place in the congregation of the righteous. If you are not born again, you must be broken before God and commit your sinful heart to God. He who looks at the heart will punish the wicked and sinful heart in due time. The fruit of our heart will be recompensed. With the heart, there is believe unto righteousness.

#2. Clean Your Heart With The Word

Psalm 119:9 says that the young man can make his way clean by sticking to the word of God. If we want to be fruitful in our heart, we must start and continue in the word of God. We must cling to the word of life and truth. It is not enough to have the root of righteousness if the fruit will not show. It goes hand in hand. In Ezekiel, God promised to take out the stony heart and put there a softer heart (Ezekiel 36:26). We must allow the word to cleanse our heart and in effect all our ways in life.

I am very sure if you can abide in these two things, it shall be well with your heart. Fruitfulness is not automatic for the man or woman who comes to Christ. It is for those who keep their heart from wickedness and sinfulness. If we will have a fruitful heart, we must commit to God and clean our heart with the word.

May we bear fruit in our heart.
