4 Ways To Use Your Mobile Phone To Grow Spiritually

There are many ways the phone you have in your hands can be turned into a major tool for spiritual growth.

In this write-up, I share with you some practical tips on how to make use of your phone to build strength as a believer and live well to the glory of Christ.

#1. Use Bible Apps

There are uncountable Bible apps on android and iOS to help you grow in your Bible reading and studying. Every Bible version can be found online, downloaded, installed and used for reading and studying the Bible.

Many times when I am away from my hardcopy Bibles, I find these Bible apps handy to help me achieve the same goal. There are good apps you can make references and even highlight for later use. Furthermore, I have Bible commentaries, dictionaries and languages available on my phone for any studies on a particular text or passage. In fact, as a Christian, I find them helpful for explaining points in my write-ups. Let your phone have space for Bible apps to help you grow.

#2. Watch YouTube Videos

On my phone I have subscribed to my faithful Bible teachers (like John MacArthur, Mensa Otabil, Alistair Begg, etc.) to follow to get their preachings in time to watch and take note. How do I know faithful Bible teachers? By simply knowing what my Bible says about faithful teachers. Three things can help you find them: One, they have a high view of the Bible as the revealed word of God. Two, they explain the meaning of the text and help apply it. Three, they exalt Christ in their preaching and not man.

I urge you, to mostly use your data or WiFi to download or watch these Bible teachings which will edify your soul and help you in your walk with God. Many times, I even download the YouTube videos offline to watch and take note. I don’t waste time when I am taking a walk or travelling. I have enough messages on my phone to last me the journey.

#3. Listen to Podcast Messages

There is so much value in subscribing to podcasts, downloading and listening to them. There are many podcasts of preachers and Christians on virtually everything you need. I have podcasts on sermons, preachers, Bible studies, etc. You can get whatever you need.

How do you access them? You will find the tips below helpful:

1. Go to the android play store or apple store on your phone.
2. Ensure you have internet access.
3. Search for Google Podcast or Apple Podcast and download.
4. Install the app on your phone.
5. Search for any Bible teacher or preacher on your podcast.
6. You can download the audio or listen as you go. I like to download and listen later.

Make space on your phone to have as many podcasts as you want. Subscribe to them and make use of them by listening to your favourite preacher explain texts or passages of the Bible.

#4. Read Blog Write-Ups

The last important thing you can use your phone to do is to subscribe to blogs and read write-ups. The internet offers many great writers who take time to dissect Bible issues and also use the Scriptures to evaluate issues of life. Look for such blogs like Living the Gospel by yours truly to subscribe and never miss a beat of article.

Just like YouTube and podcasts, there are many blogs on virtually any subject under the sun. The good thing about reading is that you can capture the words you are interested in.

You see that we have no excuse of the availability of knowledge. Our only challenge is to make time and utilize these avenues God has blessed us with. Technology has become a massive blessing to our generation to help us grow spiritually. Whenever I am stuck with a Scripture, I turn to a video, podcast, app or blog to research further. I barely ask people to explain the Bible to me. I have too many cloud of witnesses online to help me. The church is a big family made up of those online and offline.
