When I was growing up as a baby Christian, I had no Bible reading and Bible studying plan. Later on, I learnt from other people and developed my own plan (it took years). My Bible reading plan is aimed at helping me read through both the Old and New Testaments every single year of my life. No one with the Spirit of God in him gets tired of reading and studying the Bible.
The Psalmist said that the righteous man delights himself in the word of God.
"But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night." Psalms 1:2 (NKJV)
My plan involves reading through the Old Testament from January to whichever month I will end. Then I take hold of the New Testament books and read the epistles (like Philemon, Ephesians, and Galatians) and move on to the gospels reading them consistently through everyday for 10 days.
Whilst reading, I make notes, put down striking verses and passages for further studies. By this method, I get my sermons and prayer points for ministry anytime I am required to lead the people of God.
Everyone must have a Bible reading and studying plan. The word of God will not easily dwell in us richly if we fail to deliberately read, study and apply the book God wrote.
The Bible says in Colossians 3:16 (NKJV) that we should,
"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord."
If we deliberately develop a Bible reading and studying plan and follow it, the word of God will permeate every area of our lives.
May you hunger after God’s word, read it, study it and live it.
