Don’t Be Afraid To Read Through The Whole Bible

When I was growing up, I never attended Sunday School like many children did. This was largely because I didn’t grow up in a strong Christian home. Yes, my Mum and Dad went to church but it wasn’t compelling to urge me to attend church like my friends.

But there was one popular belief about reading the whole Bible that we all got to know about. They said if you read the whole Bible you will go mad. Hence, I am not sure any of my childhood friends ever attempted to read the whole Bible.

When I became a Christian in 2010, I got to know that no one ever became mad by reading the Bible. Indeed, I heard a motivational speaker say that one man read through the Bible every year. I was so challenged that I told myself I will achieve that feat too.

Fast forward to 2020, by the grace of God alone, I was able to read through the Bible over 3 times. I actually aimed at doing it every two months. This is to tell you that you will never go mad when you read through the most important book on earth. The devil has ways of deceiving people to the point of using the Bible against them. The Bible actually encourages us to read it more often than any other book on earth.

Deuteronomy 6:6-9 says that,

6 “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

Don’t be afraid to set a goal to read through the whole Bible if you have not done it before. If you have done it before, attempt doing twice this year. It is so fulfilling to read through the whole Bible. It is the finest book on earth. It is the book that changes lives and makes the simple minded wise.

Psalm 19:7 says,

7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul;
The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple;

Set a goal to read through the Bible. No one gets mad for reading the whole Bible. A closed Bible breeds a sinful life.
