Preaching With Passion!

At a funeral I attended recently, the preacher preached his sermon with passion. Standing in the scorching sun in suit and clerical, he fired out his sermon.

His sermon was about the need for all present to put Christ first and serve Him like the woman we were about to bury.

Speaking in Ewe, I didn’t understand everything but what I got from him is his passion and zeal for delivering the word of God.

#1. Preach With Passion

This village preacher found himself preaching at a funeral with passion. He could have reserved his zeal for a Sunday or special occasion but he used it anyway at the funeral.

He taught me that I must preach anywhere and any day with passion and zeal when necessary.

In II Timothy 4:2a (NKJV), Paul told Timothy to,

“Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season…”

Wherever we find ourselves, we must preach with passion and zeal like this village preacher.

#2. Preach The Gospel

The second lesson I picked from my new found preacher is to preach the gospel. Much as passion and zeal is important, the content is equally important.

Preaching is not just speaking works or being eloquent but faithfully proclaiming the truth of the gospel.

Paul told Timothy the following in II Timothy 4:2b (NKJV):

“…Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.”

We must preach the word with passion and zeal to get the response that will produce sanctified people.
