In Paul’s letter to the church at Ephesus, as part of His salutation in chapter 1 verse 1b, he gives us a snapshot of two unique features every born again Christian possesses.
Ephesians 1:1 says,
“Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, To the saints who are in Ephesus, and faithful in Christ Jesus.”
Here they are;
#1. Saints In The World
“To the saints who are in Ephesus…” (Ephesians 1:1b)
Who is a Christian? Simply, a Christian is a human being who has been born from above and set apart for God’s use and will be displayed in the coming ages. In Ephesians 1:4, Paul states that God chose us in Christ so ‘that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love’. Every Christian is a saint.
#2. Faithful In Christ Jesus
“Faithful in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 1:1b)
What does a Christian do? He remains faithful to His Master’s calling. We are faithful unworthy servants of Christ. Ephesians 4:1 says that God has called us in Christ so that we should ‘walk worthy of the calling with which you were called’. It is required of servants to be faithful to their Master and not seek the applause of men.
These are two major distinctives of every truly born again Christian.
May the Lord help us to be faithful saints in Christ.
