POEM: The Genealogy of Grace

It was an abomination

It was unthink of

It was unacceptable

It was unheard of.

No Gentile was to enter the congregation of the Jew

No uncircumcised was to worship God with the circumcised

No female had a big say in the company of men

The laws were clear

The rules were unambiguous

But the aim was all misunderstood.

They didn’t understand

That, hear, oh Israel, was to be the same for all who trust in Him

They thought they were made special for themselves

They used it to boast

They made their own rules

They perverted the laws of God.

God wanted them to be unique to reach others

Yet, it entered their heard

They forgot the aim of Yahweh

They failed to be faithful

They failed to reach the other nations and people

They turned their back on God

They learned the ways of the other nations.

God sparkled salvation for the Gentiles here and there

It was His grand plan

It was His big picture

To get all who trust in Him.

God is Masterful

His genealogy was unusual

Old ones were life and death

Not much to say

Here is God’s

It speaks of life

It radiates something different

Jews and Gentiles parade in one line

To look to one direction

The way of the Saviour.

How did Ruth get in there?

When women were forbidden

How did David get in there?

When he was a murderer

How did Abraham get in there?

When he lied about his wife

How did Joseph get in there?

When he contemplated leaving Mary

How on earth did Mary get in there?

When she was as sinful as any of us

Well, they all got in by grace

They were not perfect

Not unsinful

Not faithful

But God chose them to be heirs of the kingdom

Grace chooses us

He chose us

He cleanses us

He equippes us

He qualifies us.

Glory to God for grace.
