Unified Story of the Bible: The King and His Kingdom

Genesis to Revelation

The most important book on earth is the Bible.

The Bible tells a unified story written by 60 different writers from different walks of life living at different times of history. In just 10 simple points, I will share the whole story of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation with you. In simple terms, the Bible is about a King and His Kingdom.

Here we go…

#1. The King’s Good Creation. (Genesis 1 & 2)

In Genesis 1 and 2, we are told that God made the heavens and the earth and everything in it including man as His caretaker. He gave man the resources needed to do His work on earth.

#2. The King’s Messed Up Creation. (Genesis 3-11)

God’s good creation was messed up by the deception and lies of Satan. Eve trusted the devil who deceived her and the husband to disobey God and fall from glory and the effects are obvious.

#3. The King’s Plan Of Redemption. (Genesis 12-29:1-30)

The King saw that man cannot save himself so He chose Abraham and his descendants to be a source of blessing for humanity. He called him alone and made him a great nation and gave him descendants as the sand of the sea. The Messiah was the Seed of Abraham.

#4. The King’s Descendants. (Genesis 29:31-Malachi)

The King’s descendants were full of misfits. None of them was as pure as the King. He chose women, sinners and Gentiles to be His lineage. It was to prove that He can use the imperfect for His perfect mission. He uses the foolish to confound the wise.

#5. The King’s First Coming And His Work. (Matthew-John)

In the form of God, the King came in the likeness of men to be a servant and not to be served. He died a painful death on the cross to save His people from their sins. He chose and trained 12 ordinary men to continue His work. He continues to use the foolish for His glory.

#6. The King’s Departure. (Mark 16:19-20; Luke 24:50-53; Acts 1:9-11)

The King left to prepare a place for His brethren who will join Him when He comes again to separate the sheep from the goats. Just as He left will He come in like manner. He will come to judge the living and the dead.

#7. The King’s Men Were Empowered. (Acts 2:1-4)

Just as He promised, when He left, He sent the Holy Spirit to empower His men for the Great Commission of discipling the nations so that in the end there will be innumerable people in heaven. Until He comes, they must be preoccupied with His work.

#8. The King’s Men And Their Work. (Acts-Jude)

The King’s men launched out into the deep to be fishers of men proclaiming that the King who died has risen and granted repentance unto those that come to Him. They created communities of saints and lived their new lives whilst affecting sinners. They lived in the power of the Spirit.

#9. The King’s Second Coming And Judgment. (Revelation 4-20)

Hallelujah, the King promised to come again to judge the living and the dead. He will come and make all things new. He will reward the righteous and punish the wicked.

#10. The King’s New Creation And Dwelling With His People. (Revelation 21-22)

The King will eventually make all things new. He will recreate the heavens and the earth and dwell with His people forever. This was all that He wanted to do in Eden until the uprising by Satan. The saints will end up in Eden and the sinners will languish in the lake of fire with Satan.

Never think that the Bible is just another good book. It is the story of God who inspired different authors to reveal His Kingdom story. As you read it, bear in mind that you are taking in life and not mere words.

Take Action: Meditate on God’s goodness to mankind by creating and redeeming us from our sins.
