God Destroys The Wicked

Genesis 7

The nature of God does not permit evil and wickedness to dwell with light. As promised in Genesis 6, God sent flood on the earth to destroy sinful man and wickedness from the face of the earth. This was not a final destruction but a picture of what will be done to sin and evil at the end of the age when Jesus Christ comes again. God punishes evil.

There are two main lessons we can pick from this chapter:

#1. God saved Noah and his family and some selected animals. (Genesis 7:1-16)

After preaching righteousness and building the ark commanded by God, Noah and his family were saved by God just as He promised. God honours His word when He promises. If He declares to save those who trust in Him, He does not do otherwise. The righteous are not unclear about their end in life. God makes it known to them. His word is final concerning the righteous – He will save those who place their confidence in Christ.

#2. God destroyed the wicked and corruption from the earth. (Genesis 7:17-24)

God is the creator of the heavens and the earth and everything in it. He can use anything to renew His creation. In the time of Noah, He used the flood to destroy the wicked and sin from the earth. He makes and He kills. There is nothing impossible for God to do. A just God will not let sin go unpunished.

God made everything and destroy at will if they defile His creation. He promised to destroy the wicked and save Noah and He did that. His promises are sure. Someone will ask why God didn’t give them more time to repent. Well, the Bible says that Noah preached righteousness for many years and the people never changed. God is merciful and slow to anger.

Take Action: Consider the fact that the wicked will perish in the lake of fire and make amends.
