Born & raised in enemy camp

Exodus 2

When God is in charge, He can use your own enemy to raise you to be a threat to them. Moses was born when there was death threat on Jewish male children but he was kept and God arranged for the Pharaoh’s daughter to raise him in the palace to be a terror to Egypt. Amazing God!

What can we learn?

#1. God can preserve our lives from danger. (Exodus 2:1-10)

The threats from Pharaoh to kill the male children of the Jews was still lingering. But one woman who gave birth to a male child courageously hid him and wisely kept him on the river for the Princess to discover him, take him and raise him as his son. This may have appeared as a natural occurrence of life but it was the finger of God preserving the life of the child Moses because of the purpose of God for him. In Matthew 2, Herod threatened to kill baby Jesus but the parents took Him to Egypt for safety. God preserves His own from any danger of satan. He can even use our enemies to preserve our lives.

#2. God favours us everyday. (Exodus 2:11-23)

Moses enjoyed the Palace life of Pharaoh until his act of killing an Egyptian for beating up a Jew made him become a fugitive. He found himself in the land of Midia where he married and raised a family with a promising work as a shepherd for the father-in-law. God favours us in many ways we may not even admit. He favoured Moses in Egypt and Midia. His mercies are new towards us everyday. He grants us life, love and family. We must reflect over our lives and thank God for His work of grace in our lives.

#3. God remembers us. (Exodus 2:23-25)

God remembers His own when they cry out to Him. The Psalmist said that the Lord answers those who cry out to Him for help. Israel under oppression in Egypt cried to the Lord and He remembered them because of the covenant He made with Abraham. He hears the cry of the righteous. He does not abandon His own. We must not devise our ways of dealing with major issues eating us up. We must cry out to the Lord for help and He will come through for us.

The God we serve is a covenant keeping God who also thinks ahead of what to do before they even happen. Moses was born to free the Jewish from their oppression.

Take Action: May God raise a deliverer for your cause.
