Just obey!

Exodus 4

Not only did God call, commission and empower Moses (Exodus 3), He also let him test what he can do in the supernatural to attest to the fact that God had sent him. People don’t believe so much in talks without proof of God’s works. Jesus did God’s miraculous works. Moses’ main business was to just obey God and He will do what He promised to do with him.

What can we learn?

#1. The Lord can perform wonders through us. (Exodus 4:1-9)

The first thing we notice in this chapter is that God empowered Moses to do the supernatural as a sign of His presence with him. If the people will not believe his message from the Lord, they would experience signs and wonders to attest to the fact that God is the one with Moses. Nicodemus said to Jesus that no one could do the things He did unless God was with Him. There are things no one can do except God. There are miracles no one can do except God. There are healings no one can do except God. God empowered Moses to do the supernatural.

#2. The Lord deals with our doubts. (Exodus 4:10-17)

Just when you thought Moses was convinced about the mission, he resurfaces with renewed excuses about two main things; he could not talk and he wanted God to delegate another person. God melted all his excuses and gave him cogent solutions. There is nothing God cannot deal with to clear the way for us to do His will. There are no excuses He cannot resolve. There are no fears He cannot turn around. Moses doubted what God could use him to do because of his past records in Egypt. But he forgot that our past is not our present nor our future. The Bible says that if a man is in Christ he is a new creation, old things have passed away. God can deal with any doubt you have hindering your growth.

#3. The Lord goes with us. (Exodus 4:18-31)

After empowering him and dealing with his doubts, God went with Moses to Egypt to meet Aaron and the leaders of the people. God promised to be with him and he went with him. His presence makes all the difference. Moses went alone physically but he was not alone spiritually. God was with him. He shared the message with them and did supernatural wonders before them that made them believe. Jesus said in Matthew 28 that as we go into all the world to make disciples of the nations, He will be with us until the end of the world.

Moses was human like all of us. He feared all that God said He would use him to do will not work because he hadn’t done it before. But when he obeyed and went forth, it all worked as God said.

Take Action: Ask God to away your fears and do His works in your life.
