Exodus 24
God’s covenant with Israel was a call unto a deeper relationship with Him. He had redeemed them, given them commandments and this was the time for the people to affirm and agree to walking with Him. Each one of us is called to abide in Christ by being obedient to His word. God is looking for people who are serious about their relationship with Him.
What can we draw from this chapter to help our relationship with God?
#1. Make a definite commitment to God. (Exodus 24:1-8)
The first thing we notice about the chapter is that Israel was asked by God through Moses to affirm their part of the covenant. God had His part and the people had their part. They appeared before God and made a definite commitment of their allegiance to Him. They declared to do what the Lord wanted them to do. Each one of us must make a definite commitment to God that will define the way we live our lives before Him blameless. Decide that you will follow Him all the days of your life after your conversion.
#2. Obey the authority of God. (Exodus 24:9-18)
The second thing we learn is that Moses was separated and called to be with God for the tablets of commandments. He instructed them on how things should run when he leaves. Moses’ stay with God was for the interest of the whole congregation and not his own interest. When we make a commitment to walk with the Lord, we must also commit to follow His servants. We cannot claim to follow God but disregard the leaders He set over us.
God is relational and wants His people to worship Him in the right manner and not how they want.
Take Action: Know and understand God’s covenant laws and obey them.
