Follow God’s pattern (1)

Exodus 25

When God invited Moses for 40 days and 40 nights, He informed him of what He intended to build so that He will dwell with His people. If they get it right according to the agreed pattern on the mountain, He will definitely come and dwell with His people. If they do what they like, God will not descend from the heavens to make His abode with His people.

What can we learn from Exodus 25 faithfully walking with God?

#1. Give to the Lord from a willing heart. (Exodus 25:1-7)

God did not require from His people what He had not given to them. Hence, He asked Moses to request an offering from the people from willing hearts. Even though He gave them what they had, He did not force them to give. He asked that they give from a willing heart. God does not force anyone to give to Him. He is the possessor of the heavens and the earth. He blesses His people but He asks people to give from willing and cheerful hearts. Paul said in his epistle to the Corinthians that God loves a cheerful giver. He will always require of us what He gives to us.

#2. Follow God’s pattern for building. (Exodus 5:8-40)

The second lesson we can learn here is that God gave specific instructions to Moses on what to build, what to use, the dimensions and how to build them. He instructed him to build the ark of the testimony, the table for the showbread, and the gold lampstand. He told Moses to do them according to the pattern He had shown him on the mountain. If God will dwell with us, we must do what He wants us to do and not what we want to do. He wanted His will in heaven to be done on earth. When we do what God instructs us to do, we enforce His will in our lives, families, business and ministry.

God showed His people how to make things for proper worship. If we truly want to do things God’s way, we must heed His instructions on what to do.
