Reflection on Exodus 30
As we reflect on the instructions given by God to Moses regarding the articles for the tabernacle, we can draw parallels to our own lives today.
Just like how God had specific instructions for Moses, He also has specific instructions for us to follow in order to live a life that is pleasing to Him.
#1. The making of the altar of incense. (Exodus 30:1-10)
The altar of incense reminds us of the importance of worship and prayer in our daily lives.
Just as the incense was burned on the altar, our prayers are like sweet incense to God when offered with a sincere heart.
#2. Collection of the ransom money during census. (Exodus 30:11-16)
The collection of ransom money during the census teaches us about the importance of giving and supporting the work of God’s kingdom.
Regardless of our financial status, God desires for us to give willingly and generously.
#3. The making of the bronze laver. (Exodus 30:17–21)
The bronze laver symbolises the need for purity and holiness in our service to God.
Just as the priests washed themselves before serving, we must also cleanse ourselves from sin and impurity in order to serve God effectively.
#4. The making of the holy anointing oil. (Exodus 30:22-33)
The holy anointing oil signifies the empowerment and consecration that come from God.
Through the anointing of the Holy Spirit, we are set apart for God’s purposes and equipped to fulfil His will.
#5. The making of the incense. (Exodus 30:34-38)
Finally, the incense represents the importance of keeping sacred things holy and set apart for God’s use.
Just as the incense was reserved for the tabernacle, we must honour and respect the things that belong to God.
Let us seek God’s direction and guidance in all that we do, so that we may fulfil His purposes and flourish in His presence.
Take Action: Ask the Lord to lead and guide you in following His instructions for your life.
