Moses: The Man Who Prayed the Most

Apart from Jesus Christ, no man in the Bible prayed like Moses. He was constantly in communion with the Lord.

The Lord spoke to Moses so frequently that He said Moses was the only one He spoke to face-to-face.

What made Moses the man who prayed the most?

  1. He Recognised His Inadequacy Without God
When God came to Moses in Exodus 3, Moses objected to being chosen because he felt gravely inadequate for the task. He even suggested someone else should go. If you think you are adequate for any mission, you will not see the need to seek God’s help through prayer. The late Leonard Ravenhill once said that prayer is the language of the poor.
  2. He Was Commissioned by God for a Mission
Throughout the book of Exodus, God calls and equips people for their missions. He doesn’t ask them to train for the mission but prepares them Himself. Moses knew that only God could fulfill His own mission, so he relied on Him.
  3. He Relied on the Power of God
Moses was a fugitive in Midian when God came to him and commissioned him. He feared the King of Egypt. Yet, God demonstrated His power to Moses, who then trusted in what God could do. Moses showed his reliance on God through prayer.
  4. God Answered His Prayers
Moses prayed because God granted his requests. Answers to our prayers increase our faith in God, encouraging us to pray more. If God answers our prayer today, we will surely believe Him to answer us tomorrow, hence we will continue to pray to Him.

If we can cultivate Moses’ attitude of relying on the power of God, knowing that without Him we can do nothing, we will be able to accomplish mighty things for the Lord through prayer.

Moses, like Elijah, was a man with a nature like ours. He prayed, and God heard and answered him.
