Introduction
In his daily Living Word devotional on Thursday, 23rd May 2024, Pastor Mensa Otabil shared insights on how we can maximize our time as children of God to make the most of our lives.
Teaching from Proverbs 12:24, which states, “The hand of the diligent will rule, but the lazy man will be put to forced labor,” Pastor Otabil emphasized:
“We must make the most of our time. Diligence requires that we don’t waste time. This year, as we seek to experience a better life, we should be mindful of what we do with our time.”
Below are three tips from Pastor Otabil to help maximize our time:
1. We must give ourselves to hard work. Some see hard work as something Christians should avoid. That is far from the truth. The Lord designed us for work. Right from the beginning, in the Garden of Eden, He charged the first humans to work the garden—to dress it and keep it. Work is God-ordained.
2. We must pay attention to what we do. No one can do quality work if they work haphazardly. To produce value in our work, we must focus on what we are doing and take notice of all the details of our assignment.
3. We must endeavor to finish what we start. Because life is a task, we need strength to face it, not speed to flee from it. We shouldn’t stop midway through our commitments because they are difficult and demanding. The diligent see their projects through.
Conclusion
I am confident that if we follow the tips above, we can redeem our time and make the most of the finite resource of time God has given us. Each of us has only 24 hours per day that we must use wisely to achieve our purpose on earth.
Which of the three tips are you going to start implementing to improve your use of time? Share with us.
