Introduction
During her presentation at the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International, Mrs. Matilda Nana Manye Amissah-Arthur, the former Second Lady of Ghana, under H. E. John Mahama’s administration shared her powerful testimony of how the Lord saved her from being killed by an armed robber. This testimony highlights the wonder of the Lord in the life of His daughter.
Mrs. Amissah-Arthur was at home when the robber entered, demanding money and valuables. After taking what he wanted, he attempted to strangle her. She lost consciousness and described the experience as a journey to heaven and back. When she regained consciousness, she was injured and taken to the hospital for treatment.
The following are three profound lessons from this testimony:
1. Bad Things Happen to God’s Children
Mrs. Amissah-Arthur is a devout Christian who serves the Lord diligently. Despite her commitment, she faced a life-threatening situation. This teaches us that no matter how devotedly we serve God, we will face difficult times. The Bible states, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous.” Just as Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers for no wrongdoing, Christians must understand that bad things can happen to them.
2. God is With His Children in Dark Times
The second lesson is that God is with His children even in their darkest moments. The Psalmist says, “Though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, God is with us.” He does not forsake us in our troubles but is present to deliver us. Mrs. Amissah-Arthur’s ordeal with the armed robber demonstrates the grace to endure unbearable pain. Her testimony encourages us to remain steadfast during suffering, knowing that all things work together for our good.
3. The Lord Delivers His Children from Wickedness
The final lesson is that God delivers His children from wickedness. When the enemy attacks, the Lord raises a standard against him. Although Mrs. Amissah-Arthur still bears emotional and psychological scars from the robbery, God ultimately delivered her from the danger. The Bible assures us, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers them from them all.” May God deliver you from any demonic attacks.
Conclusion
The righteous have the ultimate presence of God with them. He is greater than any wicked man who may come against us. Trust in the Lord to deliver you from any harm intended for your life.
I pray that God will deliver you from any plans of the enemy to steal and destroy your life, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
