Introduction
The much-awaited Greater Works Conference by ICGC began with an electrifying Opening Night on Monday, 29th July 2024, at ICGC Christ Temple East in Teshie-Accra.
This night also marked the culmination of the church’s 40 Days of Power with a Communion Service. The air was thick with anticipation, and the arena buzzed with excitement as a throng of believers gathered, eager to partake in the conference.
This article reflects on the pivotal lesson gleaned from the first day of the conference, highlighting a principle that can transform the effectiveness of any church or organization.
Recapping Opening Night

Before delving into the core lesson, it’s essential to recap the night’s events. This year’s Opening Night deviated from tradition by being held in the arena instead of the main auditorium, a change that added a fresh dynamic to the experience.

The event was punctuated with engaging interactions led by MCs who connected with online audiences both before the start and during intervals.
Musical performances were a significant highlight. The Praise Team, Choirs, and New Breed music group delivered soul-stirring renditions.
The hymns choir and security forces added a unique touch, particularly during the National Anthem, which resonated deeply with the attendees.
The Big Lesson: Preparation Precedes Great Performance

The most profound takeaway from the night was the undeniable truth that stellar performances are the fruit of intense preparation.
In a pre-conference interview with Rev. Albert Ocran, Pastor Mensa Otabil shed light on the meticulous efforts behind the scenes.
Pastor Otabil emphasized, “We start the music rehearsals internally months ahead of time. For everything we do in our church, we are not spontaneous. We are very methodical and exact. I personally believe in hard work. Talent is great, but hard work and real commitment are what we drive. We start everything very early, work at it and work at it until we get it right. Then we minister it to the Lord as a sweet-smelling incense to show God we value Him so much that we invest so much time to prepare what we do for Him.”

This statement encapsulates the essence of the night. The impressive performances were not mere happenstance but the result of dedicated practice over days, weeks, and months.
The lesson is clear: great performances stem from great preparation, a principle that holds true for churches, individuals, and organizations alike.
Conclusion

The lesson from Greater Works 2024 Opening Night is a powerful reminder of the value of preparation. We serve an orderly God who deserves nothing less than our best.
Our worship, like our work, should reflect a commitment to excellence. By investing our time, energy, and resources into thorough preparation, we can offer our best to God, honoring Him with our dedication and diligence.
Let this principle guide us in all our endeavors, ensuring that every effort we present is a testament to our reverence and love for Him.
The Greater Works Conference continues today, Tuesday, with a Morning Session at 9:00 AM and an Evening Session at 5:00 PM, both at Christ Temple East.
