What Do You Know? Bishop Mike Okonkwo at Greater Works 2024 (Day 3 Evening Session)

Introduction

The third day of the Greater Works 2024 conference was marked by an inspiring and thought-provoking evening session led by Bishop Mike Okonkwo and Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo.

In his powerful message titled “What Do You Know,” Bishop Okonkwo emphasized the critical importance of knowledge in the life of a believer.

Drawing from various scriptures, he highlighted how the lack of understanding of one’s identity and authority in Christ can lead to unnecessary struggles and bondage.

The key scriptures for his sermon included 2 Chronicles 13:1-5, 1 Timothy 2:4, John 8:31-32, 2 Timothy 3:5,7, Proverbs 11:9, and Isaiah 5:13-16.

The Power of Knowledge

Bishop Okonkwo began by debunking the common misconception that the devil holds significant power over believers. He asserted, “The devil is not powerful. But your defeat is predicated on what you know or do not know.”

This statement set the tone for the rest of his sermon, emphasizing that ignorance, not the devil, is the root cause of many believers’ struggles.

He lamented that many Christians, despite having their liberty purchased by Christ, continue to walk in bondage due to their lack of knowledge about their inheritance in Christ.

Referencing John 8:31-32, Bishop Okonkwo reminded the congregation that true freedom comes from knowing the truth of God’s Word. He said, “The devil knows he is defeated. The question is: do you know that he is a defeated foe?”

This question underscored the necessity of understanding one’s victory in Christ to withstand life’s challenges. He warned that the devil’s primary strategy is to keep believers ignorant of God’s Word, as it is through ignorance that he can maintain a foothold in their lives.

The Importance of Correctly Interpreting God’s Word

Bishop Okonkwo stressed that misinterpreting God’s Word can lead to wrong conclusions and subsequent frustrations in life. “God is God. You cannot manipulate Him by your actions,” he stated, warning against the dangers of trying to manipulate God with false praises or misguided interpretations.

He highlighted the importance of rightly dividing the Word of Truth to avoid the pitfalls of erroneous beliefs and practices.

Authority in Christ

A central theme of the sermon was the authority that believers have in Christ. Bishop Okonkwo proclaimed, “The victory was won, and God has set every captive free. So there is no reason we should be afraid.”

He urged believers to recognize and use their God-given authority to its fullest extent, emphasizing that every promise of God has been sealed and validated with the blood of Jesus.

“IT CANNOT FAIL!” he declared passionately, encouraging the congregation to stand firm in their faith.

The Role of Knowledge in Transformation

Bishop Okonkwo reiterated the transformative power of knowledge, stating, “Your ability to do exploits is based on your knowing! You can’t become what you don’t know.”

He encouraged believers to seek understanding and revelation, as it is through knowing God’s Word that they can experience true transformation. “From today, God will give you understanding. NO MORE IGNORANCE!!!” he proclaimed, urging the congregation to embrace knowledge as the key to their spiritual and practical breakthroughs.

A Call to Expectation and Action

In closing, Bishop Okonkwo called the congregation to expect divine intervention in their lives. He declared, “No matter how your back is against the wall, you must expect divine happening.” He spoke prophetically over areas of struggle, commanding them to be destroyed by the Mandate of Heaven.

“Your days of disappointments are over. Your days of suffering are over. Your days of wilderness are over. God is causing you to enter into your wealthy place in Jesus’ name,” he announced, instilling hope and faith in the hearts of the attendees.

Conclusion

Bishop Mike Okonkwo’s message at Greater Works 2024 was a powerful reminder of the crucial role that knowledge plays in the life of a believer.

By emphasizing the importance of understanding one’s authority in Christ and rightly interpreting God’s Word, he provided the congregation with the tools needed to overcome ignorance and experience true freedom.

His call to action and expectation of divine intervention left a lasting impact, encouraging believers to pursue knowledge and live out their God-given authority with confidence.

As Bishop Okonkwo declared, “Any area of struggle in your life ends now in the name of Jesus!” The message was a clarion call to embrace knowledge and experience the fullness of God’s promises in every area of life.
