Teshie-Accra, Ghana – In an exciting development for the African church community, Pastor Mensa Otabil announced a new initiative during the Day 4 Morning Session of the annual Greater Works Conference held at Christ Temple East in Teshie-Accra on Thursday 1st August 2024. The International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) will launch a Pastors and Church Leaders Conference in 2025, marking a significant shift in its efforts to equip and empower church leaders across the continent.

Pastor Otabil, known for his profound influence and leadership in the Christian community, shared his vision for the upcoming event with great enthusiasm. “Next year, we’re going to shift gears a little bit. And I’m going to start a Pastors and Church Leaders Conference,” he declared. “It’s something I’ve been thinking about and working towards and planning. And I just feel it’s the right time to do it.”

The conference is scheduled to take place from March 4th to March 6th, 2025. Pastor Otabil emphasized the intensive nature of the event, promising a comprehensive program designed to address the specific needs of the African church. “It’s going to be a very intensive Church and Pastors Conference,” he stated. “I want to develop a very, very qualitative Pastors Conference and Church Conference that will help particularly the African Church to raise quality leaders and build quality churches.”

Addressing his concerns about the current state of the African church, Pastor Otabil expressed his commitment to not just making statements but taking actionable steps towards improvement. “I have been very concerned about the African Church for some time now. And I just feel, instead of just making statements, we have to now train and equip,” he said.

The conference will feature numerous sessions, breakout rooms, specialized training, workshops, and seminars, running from morning to evening with minimal breaks. “When I say intensive, it means from morning to evening. Very little break. We’re going to have so many sessions, breakout rooms, specialized training, and specialized workshops and seminars and all of that,” Pastor Otabil explained.

He encouraged pastors and church leaders who were watching online to mark their calendars and prepare for this transformative event. “For those who are watching online and who are Pastors and Church Leaders, next year, March, from the 4th to 6th, we’re going to have our Pastors Conference.”

While details about the content and name of the conference will be released later, Pastor Otabil assured attendees that the event would be an annual fixture. “Information will come out later on the content and how it’s going to be and the name of the conference and all of that. But it’s going to be three days intensive. And subsequently, it will happen every year as the Lord gives us the strength.”

In his closing remarks, Pastor Otabil hinted at potential changes to the Greater Works Conference itself, aiming to add more value to the already impactful event. “I believe Greater Works would also shift gears a bit, but I’m not going to talk much about that. But we believe that we would add more value to what the conference has become. And thank God for the blessing it is. But I believe God is able to do much more than that.”

The announcement has been met with excitement and anticipation, as church leaders and pastors look forward to the opportunity for growth, learning, and networking at the 2025 Pastors and Church Leaders Conference.
