16 Insightful Sermon Highlights from Greater Works 2024 to Strengthen Your Faith

Introduction

The recently concluded 5-day Greater Works 2024 Conference, organized by the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), took place from Monday, July 29 to Friday, August 2, 2024. It featured 16 powerful sermons delivered by four seasoned speakers: Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo (KICC, UK), Bishop Mike Okonkwo (TREM, Nigeria), Bishop Tudor Bismark (Jabula New Life Church, Zimbabwe), and the conference host, Pastor Mensa Otabil (ICGC, Ghana).

Although the conference ended successfully, it’s essential to remember and meditate on the profound insights shared during the sessions. The Bible teaches that faith comes by hearing the word of God (Rkmans 10:17).

I have taken the liberty to distill the various sermons, Scriptures used, and the main points for your continuous meditation.

Sermon#1: The God of All Creation by Pastor Mensa Otabil

Scripture: Genesis 1:1  

Main Point: God is the sovereign Creator who can create from nothing, transform the existing, and make all things work together for our good. He is committed to perfecting what He begins.

Sermon#2. How to Increase in What We Do 1 by Pastor Mensa Otabil

Scriptures: Proverbs 27:23-27; Isaiah 45:18  

Main Point: Success is not about innate talent or abundant resources but about how one applies themselves and takes care of what they have. Focus on your productive center (vocation, occupation, reputation), develop deep knowledge of your field, and be willing to embrace change and continuous reinvention.

Sermon#3. Giant Promotions Are Coming by Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo

Scriptures: 1 Samuel 17:49-51; 1 Samuel 18:1-4  

Main Point: God’s promotions can come in unexpected ways, often through challenges, and can lead to significant advancements in various aspects of life.

Main Point: God’s blessings and provisions far exceed human expectations and limitations. By trusting in God’s divine leadership and having faith, believers can experience abundant blessings and overflow beyond their current circumstances.

Scriptures: Genesis 41; Matthew 25:14-30; Proverbs 13:22  

Main Point: The overall message emphasizes the need for Christians, especially those in careers or employment, to approach wealth creation strategically and biblically, with the goal of personal prosperity and kingdom impact.

Sermon#6. Comfort in Discomfort by Bishop Mike Okonkwo

Scriptures: 1 Peter 4:12-13; Romans 5:8; John 3:16; 1 Peter 1:7; James 1:2-4; 1 Peter 5:10  

Main Point: Challenges and discomfort are essential parts of the Christian journey, necessary for spiritual growth and maturity. Believers should not measure God’s love by material blessings but should find strength in His promises, remaining steadfast in faith during trials. God is always present, and that trials are temporary, ultimately leading to growth and comfort in Him.

Scriptures: 2 Chronicles 13:1-5; 1 Timothy 2:4; John 8:31-32; 2 Timothy 3:5, 7; Proverbs 11:9; Isaiah 5:13-14  

Main Point: The sermon highlights the critical importance of knowledge for believers, asserting that many Christians live in defeat not due to the devil’s power but because they lack understanding of their identity and authority in Christ. He emphasizes that knowing God’s truth is essential for freedom and victory, as ignorance leads to captivity and defeat. Okonkwo encouraged believers to deepen their understanding of God’s word and their position in Him to overcome life’s challenges and live victorious lives.

Main Point: God’s unexpected and swift interventions can bring about sudden changes, breakthroughs, and miracles in the lives of believers.

Sermon#9. Embracing Divine Clarity and Victory by Bishop Mike Okonkwo

Scriptures: Jeremiah 33:1-3; Proverbs 29:18; Job 42:5; 1 Corinthians 2; Psalm 37:4-5  

Main Point: Bishop Mike Okonkwo’s sermon emphasized the importance of divine clarity and the power of God’s promises. He highlighted that despite life’s challenges, God’s light and power remain supreme. He stressed the need for vision and a strong spiritual relationship with God to navigate life effectively, embrace God’s promises, and live a victorious life.

Sermon#10. The Power of the 13th Man by Bishop Tudor Bismark

Scriptures: Nehemiah 8  

Main Point: The sermon emphasized the importance of unity, understanding, and building with vision and integrity. Drawing from Nehemiah 8, he highlighted the significance of collective effort and spiritual hunger in rebuilding communities. He challenged modern church leaders to focus on depth in theological knowledge, character, and relationships, while urging believers to build their lives and ministries with intentionality and perseverance. The message called for a strong foundation, both spiritually and practically, to achieve lasting impact and success.

Sermon#11. The Prophetic Voice of Destiny by Bishop Mike Okonkwo

Scriptures: 1 Kings 1:11; Genesis 37; 1 Samuel 9; 1 Samuel 30  

Main Point: The sermon highlighted the crucial role of prophetic voices in guiding believers toward their divine destiny. He emphasized that God’s plans for our lives are orchestrated with divine precision, and prophetic voices are essential for navigating challenges and fulfilling our purpose. He stressed the importance of supportive relationships and warned against negative influences, while also assuring believers of God’s promise of restoration and progress despite past losses or current difficulties.

Sermon#12. Live Your Life by Bishop Tudor Bismark  

Scriptures: Galatians 2:20  

Main Point: Bishop Bismark emphasized living a purposeful life through faith in Christ. He underscored that life is a divine gift to be embraced fully, with determination and faith guiding one’s journey. The sermon highlighted the importance of recognizing one’s purpose, overcoming adversities, and living with a resolute mindset to experience a vibrant, meaningful existence.

Sermon#13. The House of the Barefooted Man by Bishop Tudor Bismark

Scriptures: Proverbs 18:16; Deuteronomy 25:6-10; Genesis 48:16; Leviticus 25:48-54  

Main Point: Bishop Bismark’s sermon highlighted the importance of recognizing and developing one’s God-given gifts, understanding the systems behind success, and embracing redemption and restoration. He used the metaphor of the “barefooted man” from Deuteronomy 25 to illustrate the consequences of neglecting responsibilities and encouraged the audience to rise to their potential, develop their gifts, and understand the divine processes behind success and redemption.

Sermon#14. How to Increase in What We Do 2 by Pastor Mensa Otabil

Scriptures: Proverbs 27:23-27  

Main Point: Pastor Otabil’s sermon focused on the importance of effectively managing one’s vocation, occupation, and reputation while adapting to new seasons in life and ministry. He emphasized that while wealth and titles are temporary, sustaining productivity and value requires continuous development and adaptation. He encouraged the audience to embrace change, seek deep learning, and constantly reinvent themselves to remain impactful and effective.

Sermon#15. Leave Me Alone, God Has Made a Way by Bishop Tudor Bismark

Scriptures: Isaiah 43:19; 1 Corinthians 10:13; Luke 7 (Story of Mary Magdalene); John 12 (Mary anointing Jesus’ feet); Psalm 37:23; Genesis 28:12 (Jacob’s ladder); Psalm 23; Matthew 6:13; Matthew 2 (Story of the wise men); 2 Timothy 4:7  

Main Point: Trust in God’s provision and guidance throughout your spiritual journey, despite challenges, temptations, and external criticisms. God has a unique plan for each person, and He will make a way where there seems to be none.

Sermon#16. The God of New Beginnings by Pastor Mensa Otabil

Scriptures: Isaiah 45:18; Isaiah 42:8-9  

Main Point: God, as the Creator, has the power to bring new beginnings and transformative changes in our lives. He can create something out of nothing, renew and revitalize old things, establish and perfect His work, and announce new things before they happen. Believers should have faith and anticipation for the new things God is doing in their lives and trust in His ability to bring their divine purpose to fulfillment.

Conclusion

The Greater Works 2024 conference was a transformative experience for all who attended, filled with powerful teachings and divine revelations. Each sermon offered unique insights and practical wisdom, reinforcing the importance of faith, perseverance, and trust in God’s plan. 

As we reflect on these messages, let us be encouraged to apply these principles in our daily lives, continually seeking God’s guidance and embracing the new beginnings He has in store for us.
