Introduction
The Church of Pentecost is not only a spiritual hub but also a breeding ground for successful business leaders, according to Mr. Samuel Tobbin, Executive Chairman of the Tobinco Group of Companies.
In a recent interview with Bernard Avle on The Point of View TV programme on Channel One TV, Mr. Tobbin highlighted how the church’s teachings on tithing and sacrificial giving have played a crucial role in shaping the business acumen of its members, including himself.
The Church’s Influence on Business Success
Mr. Tobbin, one of the prominent businessmen nurtured by the Church of Pentecost, shared insights into how the church has been instrumental in raising a generation of successful entrepreneurs.
“The Church of Pentecost is building, getting these businessmen out of us,” he said, emphasizing that the church’s teachings were key to their transformation.
He explained that the church’s focus on tithing and sacrificial offering has instilled in members a disciplined approach to financial stewardship and generosity.
“We are not like that when we came in. It’s the church that made us who we are by the teachings that the church gives through tithing and offering,” Tobbin noted.
Tithing and Sacrificial Giving as Pillars of Growth
Central to the Church of Pentecost’s influence is the practice of tithing—giving at least one-tenth of one’s income to God—and sacrificial giving.
Mr. Tobbin explained that this practice not only supports the church’s operations but also brings divine blessings that contribute to business growth.
“You give sacrificially. Nobody pushes you. Nobody forces you,” he explained. “Those that you see big, all the big guys, you go to their accounts, you see how much they pay to the church monthly.”
These contributions, according to Tobbin, are used to build the church, support its extensive work across 170 countries, and take care of pastors and their families.
“The church has a lot of liabilities… so it’s the business people by the grace of God that the church has, it’s those people like us that support the church,” he said.
A Relationship Beyond Material Giving
Mr. Tobbin also emphasised that the act of giving is deeply spiritual and is directed towards God, rather than tied to any individual within the church.
“You don’t be like, I’m giving to the church or I’m giving to this person. You are not tying it to the pastor. So whether the pastor is there, the apostle is there, whoever is not there tomorrow, you don’t worry. You pay to God. And that is what grows our business,” he said, attributing his business success to his faithfulness in giving.
Conclusion
The Church of Pentecost’s teachings on tithing and sacrificial giving have not only built churches but also nurtured a generation of successful entrepreneurs.
Mr. Samuel Tobbin’s testimony is a powerful example of how the church’s spiritual and financial principles can lead to both personal and business growth, making the Church of Pentecost a unique force in the business world.
As more members embrace these teachings, the church continues to foster an environment where faith and entrepreneurship go hand in hand.
