Rev. Steve Mensah Shares A Powerful Testimony of His Premature Son’s Journey to Becoming a Pilot

At the Charismatic Evangelistic Ministry (CEM), Rev. Steve Mensah shared an extraordinary personal testimony during a sermon titled “Understanding the Call of God.” The sermon highlighted the challenging and miraculous journey of his premature-born son, who despite severe developmental struggles, overcame the odds to become a brilliant student and, eventually, a commercial and private pilot.

Rev. Mensah began his story by recounting the unexpected birth of his first child, who was born prematurely at just six months and three weeks. “When I saw the baby, hey, an anointed man of God, preacher, my baby was like a frog, small like this,” he recalled. His son, born at only 1.6 kilograms, faced an uphill battle for survival.

The baby stayed in an incubator for months, a situation that left Rev. Mensah heartbroken. “I was walking past young, young girls who had delivered twins, triplets… and I, the anointed man of God, my baby is six months, three weeks, 1.6 kilos,” he shared, reflecting on his initial despair.

However, the greatest challenge came with his second child, also born prematurely. At just 1.4 kilograms, his second son faced even more developmental delays, taking three years to walk and ten years to learn how to read.

Rev. Mensah spoke of the heartache his family endured, as his son struggled in school and was frequently the last in his class. “Helen, blow your candle,” Rev. Mensah recalled with emotion, explaining how his son was so slow to process information that even blowing out birthday candles required help from his friends.

Despite these challenges, Rev. Mensah never stopped praying for his son, laying hands on him constantly. He vividly recounted the turning point in his son’s life when the young boy, while playing with a toy airplane, expressed his desire to become a pilot.

Rev. Mensah admitted his initial skepticism, recalling that he told his son, “Go and play with the toy like that. You’re far away from being a pilot.”

Nevertheless, a profound realization struck him after teachers at his son’s school tried to dissuade the boy from his dream.

Rev. Mensah remembered hearing God’s voice: “But with God, nothing shall be impossible.” This moment of faith led him to declare over his son’s life, “Elo, you shall become a pilot.”

From that moment, a transformation began. His son’s grades improved, and he was accepted into a piloting school in Dubai, scoring an impressive 90% on the entrance exam.

After years of hard work, Rev. Mensah’s son graduated as one of four pilots out of 182 students, a testament to the power of faith and perseverance. Today, his son is a private pilot and is set to become a commercial pilot.

Rev. Mensah emphasized that his son’s success was not just about academic or professional achievement but also spiritual growth. “He’s my son. He’s a preacher. He’s preaching people gather… sharing his testimony to encourage others,” he said with pride.

In conclusion, Rev. Mensah urged the congregation to never lose hope, no matter the challenges they face in their walk with God. “No matter your challenges, you are also called,” he said.

His son’s incredible journey from a struggling, premature baby to a confident pilot and preacher serves as a powerful reminder that with God, nothing is impossible.
