“Nobody drives a car in my house until you become a graduate” – Cosmas Maduka, Nigerian billionaire

1–2 minutes

Nigerian billionaire Cosmas Maduka has shared key insights into how he raises his children with discipline, Bible study, and practical life lessons.

Maduka, the founder of Coscharis Group, revealed that his family starts each day with a Bible reading, completing the entire Bible annually. “We’ve read the Bible over and over,” he said, adding that they discuss real-life applications of scripture.

Maduka emphasised discipline, requiring his children to complete their education in Nigeria before pursuing postgraduate degrees abroad.

“Nobody drives a car in my house until you become a graduate,” he stated, noting that even his successful business did not sway his approach to parenting.

In his practical parenting style, Maduka highlighted the importance of not indulging children. “Most parents destroy their children by indulging them in things they cannot afford,” he warned.

He stressed the value of preparing children for future challenges, believing that “without discipline, you are going nowhere.”

Maduka’s approach combines strong moral values and a focus on life skills, with a belief that discipline and structure lead to long-term success.
