“The people of Noah’s time serve as a sobering reminder of the consequences of living in persistent sin and rejecting God’s warnings, demonstrating the importance of righteousness and obedience to God’s word.”
The master of ceremonies stepped onto the stage, a somber expression on his face, as he began reading the profile of the next group set to share their story—a story of sin, regret, and divine judgment, a cautionary tale for all who would listen.
“It grieves my heart to recount the story of the men and women from Noah’s day,” he began. “Righteousness was so scarce in their time that their sins became their ultimate downfall. Out of all humanity, only Noah and his family—just eight people—were deemed righteous enough to be spared from God’s judgment. God’s disappointment with their wickedness was so profound that He regretted creating them. Today, we have the unique opportunity to hear from five representatives of those who perished in the flood. Let’s take a moment to learn from their mistakes.” With that, he handed the microphone to the group representing the people of Noah’s time.

Throughout history, each generation faces a choice: to live according to God’s divine standards or to succumb to the enemy’s temptations, thereby thwarting God’s purpose on earth. While God desires to use us for His plans, the devil also has schemes designed to ensnare us.
What causes a few to find favor with God while the majority fall under His judgment, facing severe consequences for their actions? Let us join this masterclass with the people of Noah’s time to uncover these truths.
“Unlike Lamech,” one of them began, “our story is straightforward. We wasted our lives on earth and paid a high price for it,” he said, with the other four nodding in agreement.
“In the court of heaven, we were found guilty of great wickedness. The thoughts and intents of our hearts were evil continually (Genesis 6:5). We lived every day in direct opposition to the will of God, suppressing His truth in unrighteousness (Romans 1:18). Our love for sin was so strong that when Noah preached about the impending judgment of God, we dismissed his warnings as mere fairy tales. Now, we know all too well that God was true, and we were the liars (Romans 3:4).”
In this world, we are faced with a clear choice: to stand with truth or against it, to live in a way that pleases God or to incur His wrath. We must place our trust in Christ Jesus, seeking refuge in God’s “ark” of safety, lest we find ourselves exposed to the flood of destruction that awaits all who reject Him.
As Joshua declared, “Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve… But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15). Make your choice today.
Action Point: Reflect on your life and choices today; turn away from sin and seek to live in a way that pleases God, ensuring you are in His “safety ark” through faith in Christ.
