Reverend Kojo Amo-Asare delivered a powerful sermon on the importance of attitude during Day 2 of the Destiny Awakening annual conference held by ICGC Exalted Temple in Abura-Cape Coast.
The event, hosted by Rev. Jepson C. Ahene, focused on awakening the congregation’s destiny through spiritual growth and personal development.
Rev. Amo-Asare began his sermon by emphasising the significance of attitude in fulfilling one’s purpose. He stated, “Attitude is vital. You know what? God is a God of purpose. What it means is that everything that God does, there’s a reason behind it”.
He explained that while everything created by God has a purpose, not all purposes are known, and without the right attitude, one cannot achieve their destiny or maximise their potential.
The reverend presented seven attitude axioms or truths to guide the congregation. One of the key points he made was that “Our attitude determines our approach to life”.
He illustrated this by sharing his personal experience of building an auditorium and still striving for more, driven by his desire to “die empty” and fulfil his purpose.

Another crucial axiom discussed was how attitude affects relationships. Rev. Amo-Asare quoted Teddy Roosevelt, saying, “The most important single ingredient to the formula of success is knowing how to get along with people”. He emphasised the importance of valuing and respecting others, regardless of their status or appearance.
Rev. Amo-Asare also highlighted how attitude can be the difference between success and failure. He shared a powerful statement: “Resources minus right attitude means defeat. Right attitude minus resources means victory”. This underscores the importance of maintaining a positive attitude, even in challenging circumstances.
The sermon touched on the impact of attitude on problem-solving. Rev. Amo-Asare explained, “What is the difference between an obstacle and an opportunity? It is our attitude towards it”. He encouraged the congregation to view difficulties as opportunities for growth and breakthrough.
One of the most striking points of the sermon was the reminder that being a Christian does not automatically guarantee a good attitude. Rev. Asare provided examples of Christians with poor attitudes, such as instrumentalists refusing to play due to delayed payments or believers neglecting their tithing responsibilities. He emphasised the need for Christians to cultivate Christ-like attitudes actively.
In conclusion, Rev. Asare challenged the congregation to work on their attitudes, stating, “Tonight, I came all the way from Tema just to tell you one thing. That attitude is everything.” He encouraged them to adopt attitudes of selflessness, security, and submission, following the example of Christ.
The reverend closed with a powerful prayer session, urging the congregation to seek God’s help in developing the right attitudes that would open doors and lead to testimonies of God’s glory, grace, and goodness in their lives.
This impactful sermon served as a wake-up call for the attendees of the Destiny Awakening conference, reminding them of the crucial role attitude plays in fulfilling their God-given purpose and destiny.
