During Day 11 of the October 2024 Hallelujah Challenge, Nigerian gospel musician and pastor Nathaniel Bassey shared how his current success in ministry was a vision from God years ago, achieved through steadfast dedication and sacrifice. “The things I am doing today, I saw them years ago, when it didn’t look like it,” he said, emphasising the value of faith in God’s plans and journaling prayers.
Bassey, reflecting on his early days at City of David RCCG, shared how his late mentor, Pastor Eskor Mfon, taught him the power of keeping journals of gratitude and faith. He recounted one specific moment when, as a young trumpeter with only 8,000 Naira, he felt led to honour Pastor E.A. Adeboye by offering a gift, a moment that strengthened his faith. “I knelt down, raised my journal, and wrote everything that God was showing me,” he recalled, describing how his visions included ministering to large crowds and blessing nations.

Bassey credited prayer and spiritual persistence for his journey, including prayer walks across campuses like Unilag, where he prayed in the Spirit, obeyed promptings to help others, and built a foundation of faith. He rebuffed critics who question his popular “Hallelujah Challenge,” asserting, “This didn’t start today…those who doubt might as well check into a psychiatric hospital because we won’t stop.”
As he encouraged the audience, Bassey highlighted that the same God who raised him from humble beginnings desires to do great things for others. “I dare you to believe God tonight,” he said, prophesying a season of divine favour and elevation. “Between now and February and March, God will so transform your lives like you’ve never known before.”
