Accra, Ghana — November 3, 2024

At the Supernatural Convocation held at Elaia City Church in Accra, Bishop Dag Heward-Mills, founder of the United Group of Churches, shared insights into the spiritual journey and growth of his longtime protégé, Prophet Kakra Baiden. In a heartfelt message, Bishop Heward-Mills detailed the early days of Prophet Baiden’s spiritual transformation and his journey to becoming one of Ghana’s prominent Christian leaders.

Bishop Heward-Mills described how he first led Prophet Baiden to Christ, recalling his initial impression of a young man who seemed unlikely to take the faith seriously. “I told him, this guy is not serious,” he remarked. “I mean, he’s going to be one of those people who had a good chance to hear the gospel, were prayed with, and did not take it serious, but he did take it serious, to my surprise.”

Recalling the early days of Prophet Baiden’s ministry, Bishop Heward-Mills explained how he encouraged Baiden to grow spiritually and actively serve in the church. He highlighted Baiden’s initial involvement in youth ministry, his dedication, and his decision to stay committed to the faith. “Eventually, he became serious in church,” said Bishop Heward-Mills, expressing pride in Prophet Baiden’s development and commitment.

Bishop Heward-Mills also shared the story of how Prophet Baiden played a pivotal role in expanding their ministry’s outreach. One of the first churches they established was in Kumasi, with Baiden as a key figure in its foundation. “Our first church that we ever started was Kumasi, I believe… And that was Bishop Kakra. He was the second church of all the churches,” Bishop Heward-Mills said, emphasizing Baiden’s instrumental role in the growth of the ministry’s branches across Ghana.

Despite facing challenges, Prophet Baiden’s ministry flourished, particularly as he took on preaching in the local language, Twi, which Bishop Heward-Mills encouraged him to master. “I told him, you have to learn how to speak Chi, and preach in Chi, which he did,” Bishop Heward-Mills recalled, describing how Baiden’s adaptability contributed to the church’s growth in Kumasi and other areas.

Reflecting on the broader impact of their ministry, Bishop Heward-Mills celebrated the remarkable achievements of the United Group of Churches worldwide. “I want you to know that the mission to build churches, by the grace of God…has worked, and the churches exist, and they are there all over the world,” he affirmed. He spoke of their successful expansion across regions and nations, from the Pacific Islands to Central America, attributing it to divine guidance and the dedication of leaders like Prophet Baiden.

In a final note, Bishop Heward-Mills encouraged the congregation to learn from their journey in ministry. He highlighted the importance of managing success, advising, “When you are successful, you have to manage the success. If you don’t manage the success, the success will dissipate, and vanish.”
