‘Opposing forces always seek to suppress the light of God’s truth’ – Apst. Opoku Onyinah

1–2 minutes

Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyinah, representing the Pentecost World Fellowship, participated in the 16th Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops of the Catholic Church, a historic event led by Pope Francis. Sharing his experience on Facebook on Friday, November 22, 2024, he highlighted the Synod’s focus on fostering unity and understanding within the Church and across denominations.

“This historic gathering,” he noted, “brought together 368 participants, including 272 bishops and representatives from various Christian denominations, united in a mission to foster greater understanding and unity within the Church and beyond.”

The Synod, spanning from October 2021 to October 2024, centered on the theme of embracing diversity as a gift while journeying towards a more missionary and synodal Church. Prof. Onyinah reflected on the transformative discussions guided by the Instrumentum Laboris document and emphasized Pope Francis’s call to humility, forgiveness, and reflecting God’s infinite grace.

Prof. Onyinah described a spiritual encounter during the Synod, saying, “I had a profound spiritual experience—a revelation through a trance—that underscored a timeless truth: opposing forces always seek to suppress the light of God’s truth and revelation to humanity.”

He expressed gratitude for being part of the Synod and posed a thought-provoking question: “How can the Church foster unity and understanding across denominations while ensuring each remains faithful to its unique calling?”
