Accra, Ghana — Pastor Mensa Otabil, General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), has called on Christians to use their God-given positions to uplift others, not exploit them.
Speaking during his sermon series ‘Living for God (7) – For His Name and Glory’ at ICGC Christ Temple East in Teshie, Accra, he stressed that living for God extends beyond outward religious displays to ethical and compassionate behavior.
“Christians who say, ‘God gave me this job’ must act like it,” Pastor Otabil declared. He decried the exploitation of vulnerable people by those in positions of power, particularly in workplaces. “When someone’s daughter comes to you seeking a job to care for her parents, and you demand something inappropriate in return, what are you doing? If God gave you that job, why misuse it?”
He criticized the disconnect between some Christians’ prayer lives and their actions, urging them to align their behaviour with their faith. “You pray fervently, speak in tongues, and have your Bible on your desk, yet your actions drive people away from God,” he remarked.
Pastor Otabil challenged believers to reflect on their influence, emphasizing, “Living for God means choosing a lifestyle that helps, not harms. Let’s honor God with our actions.”
