‘Glory to Glory’: A Sermon by Pastor E. A. Adeboye

2–4 minutes

Introduction

In 2 Corinthians 3:18, the Apostle Paul writes, “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”

This Scripture encapsulates the heart of Pastor E. A. Adeboye’s sermon on the theme Glory to Glory, a transformative journey every believer is called to undertake through the wisdom, knowledge, and faith found in God’s Word.

From Wisdom to Wisdom

Pastor Adeboye highlights that moving from glory to glory involves progressing in wisdom. Proverbs 3:35 declares, “The wise shall inherit glory.”

True wisdom comes from walking with Jesus, the embodiment of God’s wisdom (1 Corinthians 1:30). The connection between wisdom and glory is profound, as wisdom is the principal thing that propels believers to higher realms of grace.

Pastor Adeboye remarks, “When you focus on Jesus Christ, He will move you from glory to glory, which means He will move you from wisdom to wisdom.” This wisdom is divinely granted, as Daniel 2:21 assures us that God gives wisdom to the wise.

From Knowledge to Knowledge

Wisdom is the correct application of knowledge, and as such, believers must continually grow in knowledge.

Pastor Adeboye draws from Matthew 7:24-27, emphasizing the importance of applying the knowledge of God’s Word to build a firm foundation.

Recalling his early Christian experience, he shares how gaining knowledge liberated him from fear of the devil.

Citing James 4:7, he underscores the power of submitting to God: “Submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” Knowledge, therefore, is power—a tool that equips believers to overcome spiritual and physical challenges.

From Hearkening to Hearkening

True transformation requires not just hearing the Word of God but hearkening to it—actively listening and obeying as if life itself depends on it.

Pastor Adeboye underscores the need to hearken, drawing from Deuteronomy 28:1-13, which promises blessings to those who diligently obey God.

He illustrates this principle through his school days, where he benefited greatly by paying attention during exam reviews. “Some people come to church to listen; others come to hearken,” he observes, challenging believers to fully engage with God’s Word to experience its transforming power.

From Faith to Faith

Finally, moving from glory to glory is a journey of growing in faith. Romans 10:17 teaches that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.

Pastor Adeboye shares personal experiences where God’s promises—though seemingly impossible—were fulfilled, proving the reliability of His Word.

Reflecting on his journey from living in a single room to founding the Redemption City, he notes, “When God says He will do something for you, go to bed. It will happen.” Trusting in God’s faithfulness leads believers to greater heights of glory.

Conclusion

The journey from glory to glory is one of continual transformation. It calls for growth in wisdom, knowledge, obedience, and faith.

As believers align their lives with God’s Word, they experience the progressive revelation of His glory, fulfilling 2 Corinthians 3:18. Pastor Adeboye’s reminder is timeless: “Whatever God says, He will do it.”

In this assurance, let every believer press forward, trusting that God’s plan for their lives will always exceed their expectations. From wisdom to wisdom, from knowledge to knowledge, and from faith to faith, may we all experience His glory in ever-increasing measure.
