Introduction
Reinhard Bonnke, the renowned German evangelist known for his massive African crusades, did not always walk in the miraculous power of healing.
In an interview on 700 Club with Pat Robertson, he recounted how he transitioned from doubt to a life-changing encounter with the Holy Spirit that ignited his healing ministry.
A Divine Revelation

At the start of his ministry, Bonnke struggled with whether he should pray for the sick. “I had to unlearn what I had learned in Germany, and the Lord started to teach me afresh,” he admitted.
During one crusade, as he preached through an interpreter, the Holy Spirit descended powerfully. His interpreter collapsed, weeping under the presence of God.
At that moment, Bonnke heard a voice within him: “My word in your mouth is just as powerful as my word in my mouth.” This revelation transformed his understanding of God’s power.
The First Healing Miracle

With newfound boldness, Bonnke obeyed the Holy Spirit’s prompting to pray for the blind. Doubt crept in as the devil whispered, “What if nothing happens?” but Bonnke stood firm: “Devil, if nothing happens, that is not the point right now.
The point is that I obey the Holy Spirit.” He commanded, “Blind eyes, open!” and immediately, a shout echoed from the crowd: “I can see! I can see!”
An Extraordinary Miracle

Miracles began to break out, including an astonishing healing. A mother, unable to reach the front, passed her baby with twisted limbs over the crowd to Bonnke. “They looked to me as twisted as spaghetti,” he recalled.
As he held the child, its body suddenly vibrated with power. In awe, Bonnke unintentionally released the baby, but instead of falling, “he landed on his feet and started to run.”
Conclusion

From that crusade onward, Bonnke knew that “the Holy Spirit is a healing spirit.”
His faith and obedience unlocked supernatural miracles, setting the stage for a ministry that would bring healing and salvation to millions across Africa.
