Accra, Ghana – Pastor Mensa Otabil shared a heartfelt message from his Pathways of Success series. He is the General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church. He delivered a personal testimony. He spoke about how he encountered hope during one of the lowest seasons of his life.

Speaking candidly, he recalled a time when everything seemed to fall apart. “Many years ago, and I’ve told this story over and over — I was going through struggles in my life. Things were going wrong. Nothing seemed to be happening. I had lost my parents in the space of a year, and everything had come to a standstill,” he shared.

But in that dark moment, one verse from Scripture changed everything: “There is hope for your future, says the Lord.”

“That day, my vision changed. I offered a simple prayer to God. ‘If you’re able to lift me up and raise me up, I’m going to preach for the rest of my life.’” Pastor Otabil continued, “I’m going to tell people — you can make something out of nothing, and God can lift people from nowhere.”

He emphasized that his ministry is not just a job but a divine assignment: “For this purpose, I was born — that I can come into your life and speak words that will lift you up and cause you to rise.”

Drawing insight from the story of David and Goliath, he added: “Goliath was a big problem for Israel. But Goliath was a big target for David. He’s so big, I won’t miss!”

In conclusion, Pastor Otabil challenged listeners to shift their perspective: “The way you see the problem is the problem.”
