How Pastor Ransford Obeng Obeyed God’s Voice and Built One of Kumasi’s Leading Churches

1–2 minutes

Dear Reader,

Sometimes, the greatest fruitfulness in life comes from the most unlikely places — and the story of Pastor Ransford Obeng is a powerful example.

In a sermon preached in the USA in October 2012, Pastor Ransford Obeng, Founder and General Overseer of Calvary Charismatic Centre (CCC), shared how his journey began. After Bible school, he was praying about where to serve in ministry. Kumasi wasn’t even on his radar.

“Kumasi wasn’t my home. I’d never been there. I wasn’t even Ashanti. In the Third World, everyone wants to be in the capital—that’s where the money, influence, and opportunity are,” he said.

But God had other plans.

“At 10 a.m., while I was praying, I fell into a trance and clearly heard God tell me, ‘Go to Kumasi.’ I obeyed.”

That one act of obedience led to the founding of one of Kumasi’s largest and most influential English-speaking churches. Despite doubts from others, CCC now sits on 10 acres of land with a beautiful facility — a testimony to God’s faithfulness and Pastor Obeng’s obedience.

“People told me an English-speaking church couldn’t work there. But I found my place of planting.”

He drew inspiration from the story of Isaac who prospered during a famine because he stayed where God placed him:

“You too will flourish—even in hard times—if you stay where God planted you.”

Your Turn: Will You Obey?

If you’re facing uncertainty or pressure to follow the crowd, remember this: your breakthrough may not be in the obvious place. It may be in your obedience to God’s quiet direction.

Stay planted where God sends you — that’s where your fruit will grow.
