Accra, Ghana — In a powerful sermon titled “The Church Jesus Is Building,” Pastor Mensa Otabil, General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), issued a heartfelt call for the modern Church to re-center its message and mission on Jesus Christ.

Speaking to a congregation gathered for a special anniversary service, Pastor Otabil challenged believers to examine who truly sits at the center of their faith. “If this church is the church Jesus is building, then the name of Jesus must not only be used to get things — we must know who He is,” he said.

He warned against a culture where sermons are dominated by breakthrough, prosperity, and personal success, while the name of Christ is barely mentioned beyond formulaic prayers. “It’s possible to go to church for six months and never hear the name of Jesus — except when people say, ‘In the name of Jesus’ to demand something,” he cautioned.

Otabil emphasized that Jesus is not a tool to access blessings, but the foundation of the Church itself. “Take the pastors out of the equation, take the altar out of the equation, take the oil out of the equation, and bring Jesus to the center of our faith,” he declared.

He urged churches to intentionally make Christ the focal point of their worship, preaching, testimonies, and purpose. “Let Jesus become the language of your life. Let everything we do be about Him,” he said.

In a world of rising emotional Christianity and self-centered faith, Pastor Otabil’s message was clear: “The future is only exciting with Jesus.”
