At ICGC Christ Temple East, Pastor Mensa Otabil delivered a sobering warning to spiritual leaders: only those who come through Christ are qualified to lead God’s people.

Preaching from John 10 on Sunday, May 18, 2025, he declared, “There are many people standing in pulpits who didn’t come through the Door—Jesus calls them thieves and robbers.”

Otabil explained that spiritual leadership is not about academic credentials or prophetic gifts, but about personal relationship with Jesus. “You can go through Bible school, teach scripture, perform miracles, and still be illegitimate if Christ doesn’t know you,” he asserted.

He challenged pastors to examine their calling and character. “Jesus must smell on you. His character, his truth, his presence—it must be evident in your life.”

Calling for repentance and integrity, Pastor Otabil stated, “Quacks may deceive people, but Jesus knows who came through the Door. Legitimacy is not title-deep; it’s Christ-rooted.”

This message forms part of his year-long series on What Jesus Said About Himself, shedding light on the “I Am” statements. It calls for authentic, Christ-centered ministry in a generation prone to superficial spirituality.
