Accra, June 15, 2025 – In a bold sermon at ICGC Christ Temple East, Pastor Mensa Otabil cautioned believers against superficial faith, stating that “many go to church but haven’t gone to Christ.”
Drawing from John 15, where Jesus calls Himself “the true vine,” Otabil stressed that true Christianity is marked by internal transformation, not just external religiosity. “You can wear a church T-shirt, fast during 40 Days of Power, and still not be connected to Jesus,” he declared.
He likened unfruitful believers to dead branches, quoting Jesus’ warning: “Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away.” Otabil urged self-examination, saying, “If your life shows no love, honesty, or godliness, you’re not abiding in Christ.”
The sermon ended with a call to authentic discipleship, setting the tone for the upcoming prayer series.
