In a moment of profound insight during a special interview on Living Word with Rev. Albert Ocran, Pastor Mensa Otabil, General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), has revealed that he is preparing to launch a new book at this year’s Greater Works Conference—a publication that directly addresses the critical condition of the African Church.
“This year at Greater Works, I’ll hopefully be launching a book that I hope addresses some of the concerns that I have intimated about the prophetic ministry,” Pastor Otabil announced. “What’s a prophet? What does the Bible say? What does historical Christianity say? How do we come to terms with what people experience and what the Bible is teaching?”
In his typically reflective tone, Pastor Otabil emphasized that Christianity must be deeply rooted in Scripture and historic doctrine, not merely in subjective experiences.
“We don’t always have to say, ‘It’s good because I experienced it.’ That’s not how Christianity works. It has to anchor deeply in the self-expression of Scripture,” he stressed.
Addressing the state of the faith on the continent, Pastor Otabil did not mince words:
“Africa is the vibrant expression of Christianity today… but African Christianity lacks depth. It is expressive, but not meaningful to the core of the Christian message.”
His forthcoming book, he hinted, will offer clarity and biblical grounding on topics like prophecy, doctrine, and the theological identity of the African church.
“It’s a worthy effort to try to position things rightly, and probably offer guidance as to how we can do what we do in a better way that meshes into how Christians have handled these things over the years,” he explained.
This anticipated release adds a new dimension to Greater Works 2025, setting the stage not only for impartation and worship but also for theological awakening.
