Introduction
At this year’s Greater Works Conference, Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo (Founder and General Overseer of KICC, UK) delivered a thunderous message titled The Perez Anointing—a prophetic charge based on Genesis 38:27–29.
In the story of the birth of Perez and Zerah, a powerful spiritual metaphor was born: the one who was not expected to lead ended up overtaking. Pastor Matthew unpacked this miracle as a divine pattern, declaring, “You are about to break out of the realms of limitation!”

He explained, “Perez anointing is what pulls you from behind and puts you in front. It equalises you with those you used to admire from a distance.” Unlike Zerah, who displayed a scarlet thread but failed to emerge, Perez “busted out” without waiting for permission. According to Pastor Ashimolowo, this is symbolic of believers who refuse to be defined by circumstances, titles, or limitations.
“Scarlet thread cannot give you what you don’t carry,” he thundered. “It cannot open doors that grace was meant to open!”
In a powerful prophetic moment, Pastor Matthew declared, “Your age will not limit you. Where you were born will not define you. What you carry will speak louder than any title.”
He reminded the congregation that the world celebrates the scarlet thread—appearance, position, and titles—but it’s the Perez anointing that “opens doors in high places and gives you restoration of lost time, lost seasons, and lost opportunities.”
Perez anointing, he taught, means:
- Overtaking where you were once behind
- Obtaining positions you were once denied
- Breaking protocols and rewriting family histories
- Receiving generational grace that touches children and grandchildren
Pastor Matthew prophesied: “This anointing will make you a good reference point. You will not be ordinary—you will be extraordinary, unusual, and unforgettable.”
Conclusion
Pastor Matthew closed with a fiery declaration: “Your obscurity will turn to limelight. Your failure will turn to success. You will rise to the top. You will finish what you started!”
The Perez Anointing is a call to break out, break forth, and break through—beyond the familiar, beyond family patterns, and beyond societal expectations.
