Introduction
God’s Word is not temporary—it endures forever. In Deuteronomy 10, we see the faithfulness of God as He restores His covenant with Israel after their rebellion.
When Moses shattered the first stone tablets at Mount Sinai because of the golden calf, it seemed like all was lost. Yet God, in mercy, commanded Moses to make new tablets, reaffirming His law and covenant.
This powerful act reminds us that God’s Word is unchanging, and knowing His law is the key to walking in His blessing. If we know and honor God’s Word, He will surely honor us.
1. Moses Receives New Tablets of the Law (Deuteronomy 10:1-11)
God instructed Moses to cut two new stone tablets and place them in the Ark of the Covenant. This demonstrated that God’s law was enduring—it was not canceled by Israel’s sin but reaffirmed through His mercy.
Scripture: “At that time the Lord said to me, ‘Chisel out two stone tablets like the first ones… and I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke.’” (Deuteronomy 10:1-2 NIV)
This teaches us that even when we fall short, God’s Word remains unchanged. He gives us fresh opportunities to live in alignment with His will. His covenant is rooted in His faithfulness, not our perfection.
2. Moses Explains the Importance of God’s Law (Deuteronomy 10:12-22)
Moses reminded Israel that God’s commandments are not burdensome but life-giving. To walk with God means to love Him, fear Him, and obey Him. True worship is expressed not just in rituals but in daily obedience.
Scripture: “And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God ask of you but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.” (Deuteronomy 10:12 NIV)
For us today, this call still stands. Obedience is not optional—it is the evidence of our love for God. As Jesus said, “If you love Me, keep My commandments.” (John 14:15). God’s law is not meant to restrict us but to guide us into blessing, justice, and righteousness.
Conclusion
Deuteronomy 10 teaches us that God’s law is enduring, His covenant is faithful, and His commands are for our good. To know the law is to know the path of life.
To obey it is to walk in blessing. Even when we stumble, God calls us back, writing His Word afresh in our hearts.
Take Action: Never disregard God’s law—embrace it and live by it. Pray for a heart that delights in His Word, walking in love, obedience, and reverence daily.
