At the launch of his new sermon series, Transformed by Jesus, Pastor Mensa Otabil declared that the heart of Christ’s ministry is change. “The ministry of Jesus was and is a ministry of transformation. Jesus changes people,” he said, setting the tone for what promises to be a life-shaping teaching series.
Reading from Luke 4:18, Pastor Otabil emphasized that Jesus came to bring healing, freedom, and restoration. He explained that encountering Jesus always results in a shift. “You can’t be the same. If you are high, he’ll bring you down. If you are down, he will lift you up,” he noted. Transformation, according to him, is the proof of genuine Christianity.
“Every Christian should be able to say, ‘I came to Jesus like this. This is what He has made me to be,’” Pastor Otabil said. He reminded the congregation that while the change may not always be dramatic, it must be real and visible. “You cannot have a transformation that cannot be seen,” he added.
Using vivid illustrations, he urged believers not to settle for a stagnant spiritual life but to embrace the continuous process of growth that comes with following Jesus. “When God touches us and transforms us, the form must change. I cannot be the same and say I have been transformed,” he emphasized.
Pastor Otabil concluded with a challenge: every believer must carry a testimony of change that demonstrates Christ’s power. Indeed, you cannot meet Jesus and remain the same.
