Pastor Mensa Otabil Ordains 124 Reverend Ministers, Charges Them to Be Scripturally Rooted

Accra, Ghana — The General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Pastor Mensa Otabil, on Saturday, 18th October 2025, ordained 124 pastors into full ministerial status, urging them to remain rooted in Scripture and totally dependent on God as they serve the body of Christ.

The historic ordination service, held at ICGC Christ Temple East, Teshie, marked the largest number of pastors to be ordained in a single ceremony in the church’s history. The newly ordained ministers were drawn from various regions of Ghana, as well as the UK, Europe, and North America.

In his charge to the ordinands, Pastor Otabil emphasized the sacred responsibility of the pastoral office, quoting 1 Peter 5:2–4:

“Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers… being examples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away.”

He cautioned the new ministers against replacing biblical truth with sensationalism, calling for a return to sound teaching rooted in the Word of God.

“Your roots must be deep in the Word. Don’t preach gimmicks; preach the Bible. The Word of God is sufficient and must remain the foundation of your ministry,” he said.

Pastor Otabil further admonished the pastors to live lives of holiness, humility, and integrity, and to care for God’s people with love and patience.

“Don’t fight your flock—fight for your flock. The lion and the bear are not your members; they are demonic forces to be resisted. Be examples to the believers,” he urged.

During the solemn ceremony, the General Overseer, assisted by members of the church’s presbytery and regional overseers, laid hands on each candidate and prayed for a threefold anointing—transforming grace, power to deliver God’s people, and authority to influence cities and nations for Christ.

He declared,

“As Saul was turned into another man, so will God turn you into another person. You will be city-takers and shepherds after God’s heart.”

The newly ordained ministers, representing ICGC’s expanding global ministry, pledged their commitment to serve faithfully, uphold the doctrines of the church, and advance the mission of influencing society with the principles of the Kingdom of God.

The service concluded with the presentation of Bibles and certificates of ordination, symbolizing their authority to preach and teach God’s Word. Pastor Otabil pronounced the benediction, blessing the ministers with “grace for longevity, mileage, and fruitfulness in ministry.”
