Depend Totally on God — Pastor Otabil Advises Newly Ordained Pastors

Accra, Ghana — The General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Pastor Mensa Otabil, has urged ministers to cultivate an unshakable dependence on God, describing ministry as “a sacred trust that human strength alone cannot sustain.”

He gave the charge on Saturday, 18th October 2025, during the ordination of 124 new pastors at ICGC Christ Temple East, Teshie, in what was described as the largest ordination in the church’s history.

Pastor Otabil noted that while prayer is vital, it must express genuine reliance on God—not self-effort.

“Many people pray but still depend on themselves,” he explained. “True prayer is surrender. It is trusting God to hold you, keep you, and reward your labour.”

He told the ordinands that effective ministry requires both longevity and mileage—to stay faithful for the long haul and make wide impact. These, he said, can only be achieved through total trust in God’s sufficiency.

“Your sufficiency is in Christ,” he declared. “Because He is sufficient, you will be efficient. Depend completely on Him in every assignment.”
