In a powerful address that captivated church leaders at the PFN’s 40th Anniversary in Lagos, Apostle Joshua Selman sounded a strong warning to the new generation of ministers about what he called “the inefficient management of zeal.”
“There is a growing trend where dishonour looks fashionable,” he said. “People have spiritualised lack of manners, and just because we quote scriptures around it does not make it right.”

He lamented how zeal without wisdom has led to public disrespect, rivalry, and confusion within the church, particularly on social media platforms.
“Authority must have jurisdiction. You do not have the right to speak about everything, everywhere, anyhow, because of zeal,” he emphasized.
Drawing from the Apostle John’s writings, Selman illustrated that spiritual authority has levels:
“John said, ‘I write to you fathers, I write to you young men, I write to you children.’ By the time children begin to read letters meant for fathers, they become arrogant and discouraged.”
He urged young ministers to grow with honour, patience, and submission to spiritual authority, noting that “there are matters within the body of Christ that only fathers can address.”
“There is a way the Holy Spirit leads. Let us not make a mockery of His wisdom and leadership,” he concluded.
