In a bold and refreshing conversation on Kwadwo Sheldon’s Bants & Rants, Apostle Ray Emmanuel challenged the long-held belief that spirituality and reasoning cannot coexist. He insisted that true Christianity encourages deep thinking, personal study, and intelligent questioning—tools necessary for believers to avoid manipulation and deception.
Apostle Ray lamented how easily young people fall prey to spiritual gimmicks because they refuse to engage their minds. “We have designed ourselves to be gullible. We don’t ask the right and intelligent questions,” he said.
Addressing the claim that Christians should obey without understanding, he responded sharply: “Youth, stay clear from the idea that ‘spiritual things are not understood.’ It’s a lie. You need to understand. Christianity does not kill reasoning.”
He explained that God expects His children to think and use the wisdom He provides.
“The natural is not an opposition to the supernatural. The natural is an extension of the supernatural,” he explained. “It is not a sin to think. It is not a sin to be reasonable.”
Apostle Ray encouraged believers to personally examine Scripture so that no one misleads them with fear-driven teachings. “When it comes to Christianity, the authority is the Scriptures. Ask questions. If your pastor is not ready, ask other ministers. Read. Learn.”
He even advised Christians to use technology wisely: “Download your Bible on your phone and read. If you don’t understand, copy the verse and ask ChatGPT, ‘What is the contextual meaning of this text?’ Give yourself to learning.”
Apostle Ray concluded that many spiritual abuses thrive because people suspend their minds in the name of faith: “A God who wants you to trust Him will not operate in obscurity. If it was a mystery, the mystery has been decoded in Christ.”
