In a deeply moving recollection of his early years, Bishop N. A. Tackie-Yarboi, Presiding Bishop of Victory Bible Churches Worldwide, has revealed how his journey into ministry began with a moment of unexpected conviction. Speaking on Footprints on ChannelOne TV, he described a simple evangelistic meeting that changed the entire trajectory of his life.
As a struggling student at Ebenezer Secondary School, he joined Scripture Union merely to escape academic decline. But something deeper was drawing him. “I saw the life they lived and said, this is the life I want,” he said.
Everything shifted when he accompanied a friend to preach to a group of middle-school girls. During the altar call, a question pierced his heart. “He said, Is there anybody here who wants to give his life to Jesus? And I lifted up my hand.” His friend, shocked, repeated the call three times because “he thought I didn’t understand what he was saying.”
But that moment was divine. “The moment I said Amen, I knew that I would do God’s work. If it’s today, I’d say I heard God’s voice,” he affirmed.
This single decision ignited a zeal that would later birth one of Ghana’s most influential church movements.
