Pastor Mensa Otabil has warned Christians not to equate success or results with spiritual truth. Speaking on Christian Conversations, he said,
“It’s a very utilitarian statement to say, ‘It worked for me.’ Things working is not validation that the means is right.”
He stressed that true faith must be anchored in the Word, not in experiences. “Our faith is not based on experiences but on what the Bible clearly teaches,” he noted.
Pastor Otabil also warned believers against calling every supernatural outcome divine. “If you curse someone and it happens, you should be scared,” he said. “Jesus does not curse His enemies; He prays for them. So if something happens contrary to His character, ask yourself — which power did it?”
He concluded,
“The foundation is a robust adherence to the Scriptures. That becomes our way of judging whether something is right or wrong.”
This episode was a timely reminder that biblical truth—not personal results—must define our walk with God.
