General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church, Pastor Mensa Otabil, has unveiled The 2:42 Church as the central teaching focus for the year 2026. He made this declaration during the New Year Service at ICGC Christ Temple East, Teshie–Accra, on Sunday, 4th January 2026.

“So I’ve titled this series, The 2:42 Church,” Pastor Otabil announced. “I’m going to teach on the 2:42 Church throughout the year.” He explained that the title is drawn from Acts 2:42, which captures the identity, practices, and spiritual foundations of the early church.

According to him, the Kingdom of God is expressed on earth through the church—both universally and locally. “When we say the church universally, we mean all Christians everywhere… the local church belongs to the universal church,” he said, emphasizing unity across denominations and congregations.

Pastor Otabil explained that Acts 2:41 describes how people enter the church, while Acts 2:42 reveals what the church becomes after salvation. “Verse 41 talks about how people come into the church. Verse 42 talks about what the church is like,” he noted.

He stressed that the church must not be defined by events alone but by consistent spiritual practices rooted in Scripture. “They continued steadfastly,” he repeated, explaining that true Christianity requires discipline, routine, and devotion.

The sermon set the tone for a year-long teaching series aimed at shaping ICGC into a model New Testament church—deeply grounded in doctrine, community, worship, and prayer.
